- (1864-1950)American ophthamologist, son of Aaron Friedenwald. He was born in Baltimore and taught at the Baltimore College of Physicians and Surgeons. He was president of the Federation of American Zionists from 1904 to 1918. In 1911 and 1914 he went to Palestine, where he was a consultant for eye diseases in several hospitals. His writings include The Jews and Medicine and Jewish Luminaries in Medical History.
